Fauno Bar Sorrento

Fauno Bar Sorrento is located right in the heart of Piazza Tasso Sorrento. It’s a great spot for lunch or dinner, or simply for a few drinks and just watch the world go by.

Fauno Bar Sorrento serves as a cafe during the day, however it transforms itself into one of the hottest spots in Sorrento at night. It’s a perfect spot after a long day of sightseeing. They have both inside and outside seating on a very large patio. Get a table right on the square,  so you can enjoy the wonderful views that Sorrento has to offer. The atmosphere is great, as it is always packed and buzzing with both locals and tourists.

The menu is pretty extensive and prices are very appealing. The food is fresh, plentiful, and very tasty. They have the usual light offerings of pastries ( tiramisu is top notch), espresso and giant cups of cappuccino. They also have sandwiches, salads and pizzas. Traditional favorites like pasta, lamb fish and gnocchi. The gnocchi is very fresh and melts in your mouth. They also have gluten-free menu. For lunch, I would recommend the Bresaola salad; air-dried salted beef, Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese over arugula topped with extra virgin oil olive and fresh lemon. For dinner you can’t go wrong with the spaghetti alla carbonara (bacon, eggs, in a cream sauce with Pecorino cheese). For dessert, you have to try either the nutella crepes or nutella ice cream. They are both phenomenal. At the end of your dinner, they bring you a complimentary glass of limoncello as well.

The staff are simply brilliant and professional. They are friendly and willingly speak English. All of them are extremely well dressed in black trousers and long aprons, jackets and bow ties.

They offer a wide range of drinks, including some interesting non-alcoholic fruit cocktails. Beers are served ice cold! They also have local wines on their menu which are very good and also reasonably priced. After you have been greeted and seated, your waiter will give you a complimentary combination of nuts, green olives and crisps with your drink.

The only drawback is that with most Italian restaurants they allow smoking. Sometimes, even if you are seated in a non smoking area, you will find smoke drifting across. If you sit in the right place, it is absolutely fine.
