Piazza del Duomo is located in the heart of the historic center of Florence. Piazza del Duomo is the center of several attractions you will want to visit. You will find the Florence Cathedral with the Brunelleschi’s Dome, the Giotto’s Bell Tower. The Florence Cathedral is a must-see if you’re in Florence. The exterior has a number of statues and several beautiful mosaic religious scenes. The sheer beauty of the bell tower is overwhelming. Across the plaza is the Baptistery. The doors of the Baptistery are awe-inspiring, with beautiful and magnificent architecture and carved doors done in gold.

The Duomo itself is a mass of tile work. The intricate details on the Duomo building are outstanding. Gold plated, multi colored marble gives this massive building a one of a kind look. The Duomo has to be seen in person in order to understand its magnificence as a whole. You must walk around this to see all of the work on this building and the beautiful sculptures that surround it. On a scale so immense, you could spend hours walking this place of beauty.

Once inside the Duomo you can take everything and see part of Florence’s history and the church. It is lovely and huge. Admission to inside is free but you need 10 euro to climb the staircase to the tower. The experience of climbing over four hundreds steps to the top was exhilarating. But it is worth every step to take a birds view of the beautiful city. All the roof of the buildings are red, such consistency is stunning.

Piazza del Duomo is a must see in Florence. Don’t just stroll by, take your time to actually look at the buildings and take in the amazing history and architecture that is involved in the structure.

There are a lot of restaurants, bars and cafes in the vicinity. There are also souvenir shops where you can buy hand-painted ceramics and local crafts.

Piazza del Duomo is a hub of activity. You can go in any direction and find something interesting to see. It’s a great place to sit down for a while, have some coffee and people watch. Be prepared to be totally impressed, Piazza del Duomo will blow you away with its unique beauty.
